The story of the French 75

The french 75 is a cocktail that combines the elegance of champagne with the punch of gin. It is named after a powerful French artillery gun from World War I, which reflects its strong and explosive character. It was created in Paris in the early 20th century, and it soon became a favorite drink among celebrities and socialites. The french 75 is a simple but sophisticated cocktail that requires only four ingredients: gin, lemon juice, sugar, and champagne.

When choosing a gin, I prefer a fresher version. I like to use Sipsmith Lemon Drizzle Gin in the French 75. This gives an extra fresh kick with its intense citrus notes. I’m really no champagne expert, but one variety that I always like is the Lanson Le Black Label Brut Champagne. Whether neat, in French 75 or in an Old Cuban. I always enjoy it. Recommendation!
