Printed Hardcover Book
148 Classic & Modern Cocktails
Cocktail Icons is a comprehensive reference book exploring 148 classic, Tiki and modern cocktails through recipes, history, flavour profiles, photography and editorial design.
Rather than simply collecting recipes, the book looks at the stories, people and ideas behind the drinks. While offering different ways to discover, compare and understand them.
Created as an English-language original for an international audience, Cocktail Icons combines the depth of a reference book with the visual language of a contemporary design publication.
Cocktail Icons is more than a collection of recipes. Each cocktail is explored through its history, context and flavour — with different ways to discover, compare and understand the drinks.
Every cocktail combines its recipe with history, technique, glassware and garnish. Brought to life through original photography.
Explore the bars, people and movements that shaped cocktail culture. Vonnecting individual drinks to the stories behind them.
Compare cocktails through flavour, structure and character. Revealing connections and differences across the world of drinks.
Discover each cocktail’s individual flavour profile — making it easier to understand, compare and find drinks that match your taste.
I didn’t want to simply collect the drinks everyone already knows. I wanted to create a selection that reflects what I find fascinating about cocktail culture — the classics that shaped it, the Tiki drinks that pushed it into another world, and modern cocktails that have already started to become part of its history.
The drinks that built the foundation. Some are instantly recognizable, others are less obvious — but each one has earned its place through history, influence or sheer staying power.
A world of bold flavours, elaborate presentation and a completely different approach to cocktails. Tiki is not just a category of drinks — it is its own culture, and an essential part of the story.
Cocktails that changed the way we drink today. Some are already considered modern classics, others are newer interpretations that I believe are worth remembering in the future.
148 drinks, selected from my personal perspective — not simply from a list of the most famous cocktails.
“Cocktail Icons features so many of my personal favourites. Including drinks like the New Amsterdam that you rarely see in other cocktail books.”
“I’m a big fan of the Flights and the Flavour Matrix at the end of the book, and I like how each recipe comes with a well-balanced and consistent amount of information.“
“The design is stunning. Well played. Looks amazing.“
“A beautifully structured and comprehensive reference book, featuring an impressive selection of classic and Tiki cocktails, their history and well-founded flavour profiles — complemented by beautiful photography.”
“I’m genuinely impressed. It’s hard to believe that something this comprehensive and beautifully executed was created by one person. The result is truly remarkable — it feels as though a whole team was behind it. Outstanding work.“
“Looks incredible! Beautiful work!“
“An exceptionally detailed book that presents cocktails in a relaxed and approachable way, paire with striking photography and a distinctive visual aesthetic. A must-have not only for the home bar.“
“At ONIS, we believe the glass is the finishing touch to the drinking experience, and Cocktail Icons captures that same philosophy on every page. A detailed, thoughtfully crafted reference for anyone who wants to elevate the drinking experience.“
